About the institution
Both Online is a network organisation in research at university, VET and high-school level. The team consists of experienced teachers and entrepreneurs who specialise in knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship. Both Online has substantial experience in adult education, having implemented digital media guidelines and blended learning strategies across primary, secondary and university institutions to address social and educational challenges.
Both Online is a training centre providing trainings on digital tools, e-educational tools, smart cities, active citizenship and digital entrepreneurship. The organisation conducts extensive research on digital transformation, digital strategy and smart cities. As one of the strategic partners of Saxion University of Applied Sciences in the field of digital strategy and smart cities, Both Online has developed theoretical models and published scientific papers used by universities and youth workers internationally.
For HUMAN-AI, Both operates from a dedicated office that serves as a hub for applied research, training development and digital innovation. Its strength lies in a flexible, digitally enabled research infrastructure — professional tools for collaboration, data collection and analysis, learning design, curriculum development and evaluation, and secure cloud-based document and knowledge management.

Menno Both, MSc
Founder of Both Online, an organisation focused on digital strategies and digital transformation. In addition to his entrepreneurial work, Menno is actively involved in academic research at Saxion University of Applied Sciences, where he specialises in Digital Transformation. His primary focus is on bridging the gap between research and practical application — ensuring that insights from digital transformation studies are effectively implemented in real-world scenarios.

Prof. Dr. Piet Kommers
Professor of UNESCO Learning Technologies; built his career as a researcher in cognitive and social support for communication and education. He instigated European research projects from the early stage of DELTA (1988) through Horizon 2020. Citations of his 150+ publications exceed 3,000 with an h-index of 24. Keynote speaker in 40+ international conferences and visiting professor in many countries.
Founder of the International Journal of Web-based Communities and chair of five annual IADIS conferences. Professor at the University of Twente and Utrecht State University, Netherlands. Has supervised 20+ PhD students and approximately 160 master’s students in educational paradigms, mobile, virtual and vicarious learning. Since 2001, advisor of the UNESCO International Institute for Information Technologies in Education, and author of numerous specialised training courses and policy briefs on social media, mobile learning and the international master’s course ICT in Teacher Professional Education. Former consultant delegated by the EU Commission on Internationalisation in Higher Education in ASEAN countries.
